Hendrick Meurs, schoolmaster and calligrapher, was betrothed to Judith Cotermans in December 1634, at which time he was 30 years of age. She was from Dordrecht and was living there at the time. There is an extant letter from Hendrick Meurs to the engraver Jan van de Velde, dated 26 June 1632. Hendrick Meurs was a frequent buyer at Orphan Chamber auctions. Jan and Barent Meurs were cited in the INTRO as the closest blood relatives of Maria Meurs, the daughter of Hendrick Meurs. Jan Meurs may be identical with the director of the Schouwburg named Jean Meures (1604-1672), his wife Judith Weijntjes. All are relatives of Arent Meurs.
